Where to Dance West Coast Swing in Louisville
Tuesday Nights
Jim Porters Good Time Emporium is where the Derby City Bop Club makes its home. They have lots of dancers dancing many different kinds of swing. From 6-10pm expect to hear plenty of Bop, Shag, & Swing style music. Although WCS is not the main dance you can certianly find some here.
The Pink Door in the highlands is another place that if you sift through the Lindy Hop, Jitterbug and Charlston you might find some WCS. Its 18 and over and the dancing lasts from 9pm to 1am.
Thursday Nights
Dance Louisville has Louisville's only weekly all WCS dance night from 8-9:30pm There is a great mix of music from blues to contemporary. Even if WCS is not your main dance you can still dance cha cha, hustlenand ECS to most of the music.
Saturday Nights
Coyotes Music and Dance Hall in Downtown has one of the best dance floors in town. Get there early, doors open at 7. Thats when the 'dancers' show up. You can get some good WCS in till the linedancers kinda takover about 9:30.
Sophisticated Swing of Louisville. Hosts a once a month Saturday evening dance downtown at the Pendennis Club for West Coast Swing, Hustle and the Carolina Shag. Check ot their website for more details.
